About Me

My photo
Hi, my name is Terri. I started crafting at an early age when my grandmothers taught me how to crochet and embroider on dish towels. Over the years I've tried many other crafting mediums, and have found my favorite in rubber stamping. My wonderful guy (Craig) supports me in everything I do........I'm very blessed!! I love learning new things and hopefully will inspire others to step out of their comfort zone and try a few new things. Thanks so much for stopping by....have a wonderful day!

MFP Simple Salutations Challenge #116

MFP Simple Salutations #116 - Things With Wings

I chose this Northwoods Rubber Stamps image for another entry in this challenge. We have lots of birds at our campground and have gotten some beautiful pictures. I heat embossed the image then colored with a combination of colored pencils and markers.  The sentiment is also from Northwoods Rubber Stamps.

MFP Sketch With a Twist - Owl

I was excited for this challenge because I love owls! We hear lots of owls in the park behind our home and have seen baby owls in the trees - very cool!   I received this cute owl from a friend and and added a Mark's Finest Papers greeting from the Autumn Splender set.

MFP Simple Salutations #116 - things with wings

MFP Simple Salutations #116 - Things With Wings

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the challenge title for this week was BUTTERFLIES! I think I have more butterfly stamps than any other thing in my stash.  I like the way they just flitter around looking like they don't have a care in the world!

MFP Oriental Sketch Challenge #55

The colors in this picture didn't turn out quite right, but it's the best I could get it.  The background is supposed to be more green.  I like this sketch - a nice layout for many types of cards!

MFP Color Challenge 39 - pink gray blue

I saw this sketch and thought it would make a pretty card using these colors.  The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers.

MFP Inspiration Challenge #80 - Ruby Falls

MFP Inspiration challenge #80 - Ruby Falls
The different colors really caught my eye as I looked at the pictures, so I made a background with a Stampin' Up stamp. The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers.

MFP Simple Salutations #114 - play ball

This was a fun, fun challenge for me.  I was never a player but an avid spectator of most sports...especially baseball.  I spent a lot of time in the bleachers and always joked that I had more blankets and sweatshirts in my car during the summer than I did in the winter!!!  I made the little baseballs out of  white candies and drew the laces with a red Copic marker.

Thank you Mark's Finest Papers for choosing my card as the winner of this challenge.  I earned the ALL POSTAL stamp set.

MFP Sketch With a Twist #115 - yellow/gray

MFP SWAT #115 - yellow and gray
I used one of my favorite sayings for this card and chose a lacy-type background of gray and black.
I don't think of using yellow and gray together, but I like it that the challenges force us to use different color combos.....opens my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities.

MFP Tutorial Time Challenge 115 - Distressed Stains Patterned Background
I absolutely fell in love with this technique. I had picked out a few embossing folders...wasn't sure which one I would use. Well, once I got going I ended up with 4 different designs! What a fun challenge!  I will definitely be using this technique again. Thank you, Barbara, for great directions!

MFP Color Challenge #36 Yellow/Orange/Pink

MFP Color Challenge #36 - Yellow/Orange/Pink
Not a normal color combination for me, but I did manage to find a sparkly piece of paper with all three colors in it. It was way too bright to use as a focal point, so I tried to pull out each  color and this is what I ended up with. The greeting is from Mark's Finest Papers.

MFP Simple Salutation #111 - bear

MFP Simple Salutations #111 - bears

My "bear" card was made using Northwoods Rubber Stamp Company bear and paw prints stamps. The greeting is from Mark's Finest Papers. Who doesn't love a bear card? I think if it were up to Craig, all my cards would be bears....or fish....or deer....you get the picture! This was a fun card to make.

MFP Oriental Challenge #50

MFP Oriental Challenge #50
This was a cute sketch to work from - nice lines but not too plain. It made it easy to add a little embellishment without going overboard. All in all, a real nice challenge!

MFP Friends of Speedy TV #138 Joy Fold Card

.

MFP Friends of Speedy TV Challenge 138 - Joy Fold Card
I had tried something similar to this a few years ago....
Didn't know the name of it back then!
It's a nice technique for a special card when you just want to do
something a little something different.

I would like to thank MFP Speedy TV for picking my card for the winner of this challenge!
I earned the Halloween Selections stamp.

MFP Color Challenge #35 - yellow blue green

I picked one of  Mark's Finest Paper stamps for this challenge. I love all the fishing stamps, but this one is my personal favorite!  I used Copic markers to color the water and sky, then mounted it on green paper. Craig is going fishing in the morning - Good Luck!!

Speedy TV Inspiration Challenge #76 Paint the Floors

MFP Speedy TV Inspiration Challenge #76 - Let's Paint The Floors
I was drawn to the shiny blue in the middle picture....maybe because blue is a favorite color but also because of the white with it.  A very clean look, but so attractive!  I tried to keep my card in those same clean lines without a lot of extras to detract from it.

MFP Simple Salutations Challenge #110 - Paper Dolls

MFP Speedy TV Simple Salutations Challenge #110 - Paper Dolls
I don't have any Mark's Finest Paper Dolls stamps yet, so I came up with this other paper doll and colored her with Copic markers.

Thank you to Mark's Finest Papers for choosing my card as the winner of this challenge!  I earned the "I'd Pick You" stamp set.

MFP Color Challenge 34 7-14-14  brown/rose/beige
I wasn't sure what I was going to do with these colors....until I came across this patterned paper. I had just a small piece left, but it was enough to make this card bottom and the rest just fell together. I hope you like it also.

Thank you to MFP Speedy TV for choosing my card to win this challenge!  I earned the Asian Delight stamp set.

MFP Simple Salutations 109 - oriental background paper

MFP Speedy TV Simple Salutations 109 - oriental background paper
I didn't have any oriental background paper - my original thought was to use a Chinese take-out menu pieced together to make an "aged tiles" type background. But that didn't really work, so I made this one with a Hero Arts mini stamp of  Chinese words.

MFP Sketch With a Twist 110 - polka dots

MFP SWAT 110 - polka dots
I was very excited about this challenge because I love polka dots on cards! This looks nothing like the picture in my head of how this would turn out, but I'm happy with the result. :-)

MFP Oriental Sketch Challenge 48

MFP Oriental Sketch Challenge 48
I really liked this layout and wanted to use my gold leafing pen because it looked so pretty on the designer samples. Unfortunately it didn't turn out as pretty on my card but I think with some more practice I will get the hang of it.

MFP Tutorial Time Challenge 112 - Evaporated Milk

MFP Speedy TV. Tutorial Time Challenge - Evaporated Milk.
This was my first time using evaporated milk for stamping. I had some difficulty getting an image that would keep its design after being stamped on the paper and heated - smaller images bubbled up and I couldn't make out what they were. It was a very interesting challenge and fun once I found the stamps to use.
